JAN CONROY - DIRECTOR
Jan Conroy has been a leading dance educator in Brisbane for over 50 years, and in this capacity has travelled extensively thoughout Australia and internationally.
Jan is a fully qualified teacher with the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD), and was an examiner for this society for 30 years. She holds life membership with the Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD).
Many current high-profile teachers of dance were trained both as dancers and teachers by Jan, and she continues to offer her knowledge and expertise in dance to students and teachers.
In 2008, Jan was honoured to receive an Australia Day Award for services to the Arts.
RACHELLE CONROY - DIRECTOR
Rachelle Conroy has been training students in the performing arts for over 20 years. With the CSTD she holds full teaching diplomas in jazz, tap & theatrical, and examined for the society from 2000 - 2003. She also holds her RAD Teachers Certificate. Rachelle created the ‘Modern Jazz Syllabus’ for the CSTD.
Rachelle trained not only at the ‘Conroy Dance Centre’, but also as an original member of the ‘Young Company’ under the direction of John Dommett and Joan Ellis. She was a Channel 10 dancer for 3 years, and performed professionally in many productions including ‘World Expo 88’ and ‘The Boyfriend’.
Rachelle is director of the ‘Starz Production Team’ who have performed extensively throughout Australia, USA and in Dubai UAE, in major shopping centres, theme parks, and corporate functions. Rachelle was choreographer for the televsion show ‘New Macdonalds Farm’ for Pacific and Beyond, and Channel 9 Australia. Most recently she has been choreographing the new children’s television show ‘Toybox’ for Channel 7 and Beyond Productions.
Rachelle teaches full-time at the Conroy Dance Centre, and is primarily responsible for performance work within the studio.
NICOLE CONROY - DIRECTOR
At 30 years of age, Nicole has been a high level teacher of dance for many years. Nicole trained at 'Conroy Dance Centre', was an original member of Johnny Young's Brisbane 'Young Company' and was also a member of the 'Australian Youth Ballet Company'.
After graduating from 'Brent Street School of Performing Arts - Full Time Course' at age 17, Nicole performed overseas as both a singer and dancer for 12 months, and then spent the next 18 months in Sydney as a professional singer/dancer.
Nicole has also taught at the well-known 'Brent Street School of Performing Arts' in Sydney. Nicole is now a teacher and Director of 'Conroy Dance Centre', and also a guest teacher throughout schools in Queensland and Australia.
MARCUS PEARCE - COORDINATOR
Marcus is the Conroy Performing Arts College Co-ordinator as well as a teacher and choreographer.
Marcus, an ex Conroy student has been a professional performer for 15 years. His credits include: "Pirates of Penzeance" with Simon Gallaher, "Fever" with Rhonda Burchmore, Leading role on Japanese Televison "Blue Dog Laughing", Dance Captian for "Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines" and "Inneuvre" at Jupiters Casino.
Marcus holds his CSTD teaching Diplomas in both Tap and the Modern Jazz Syllabus. As a teacher at the Conroy Dacne Centre for many years, Marcus has brought his industry expertise to the Conroy Performing Arts College since its' inception in 2006 .
Jasmine Meakin
Jasmine has been performing, choreographing and teaching intensive workshops throughout Queensland since 1998. She is also a directory of the well-known 'Mega Jam' team. Industry credits include dancing and co-choreographing Mega Jam instructional DVD's, RAQ Fashion Awards and the QLD Reds and Broncos cheerleaders.
In addition to this, she has appeared in various video clips for singers such as Vanessa Amorosi and Jade Macrae. Jasmine travels to LA regularly to train with the countries' leading choreographers to ensure she is always up to date with latest styles.
Andrew Bevis
Andrew Bevis has starred in a diverse range of leading roles both in his native Australia and on London's world famour West End. He has performed leading roles 'Hell Dolly!', 'Les Miserables', 'Jerry Springer the Opera', Sweeney Todd', 'South Pacific' and 'Martin Guerre'. Andrew recorded the voice of Prince Lune for The Cat Returns (Disney Animations) opposite Tim Curry and Anne Hathaway. Andrew is in demand as one of the countries leading vocal coaches and we are lucky to be able too fly him from Sydney weekly.
Lisa Callingham
Lisa is a singer, dancer, actor and choreographer and has been performing professionally in Australia and overseas since she was 12. Her professional musical theatre credits include The Rocky Horror Show, Jerry's Girls, the original cast of Hot Shoe Shuffle, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Oscar's Turn to Sing, Boy from Oz and Dusty.
She has worked with many young stars of the entertainment industry including in Beijing for the Olympic bid, members of Bardot, Hi-5, finalists in X Factor and Australian Idol. Lisa is flown from Sydney when Andrew is unavailable due to professional engagements.
Jen Murray
Jen Murray is a contemporary dance artist, teacher and choreographer originall from Calgary, Canada. She was a principal performer with several contemporary dance companies in Vancouver, before relocation to Australia in 2006 with her husband, Michael Conroy. Jen teachers dance and yoga in Brisbane, Toowoomba, and the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales.
Lucy Chambers
Lucy has 19 years dance experience and at the now at the age of 24 has been in the dance industry professionally for 6 years. Also a qualified personal Trainer and fitness Instructor, Lucy in 2003 graduated from the Australian Institute of Fitness. Since finishing her work overseas she returned to Brisbane and became Co-choreographer and Performer for Raw Dance Company. Lucy was Head Choreographer for the Education QLD Showcase of "Creative Generation" 2008 and 2009.
Lindy Sciasci
Lindy is a Director of a Gymnastics Club on the north side of Brisbane. She holds coacing accreditations and Intermediate Bronze Judging Certificates in Women's Artistic Gymnastics and Acrobatic Gymnastics. Lindy has coached many National Medalists in Acrobatic Gymnastics and In 2008 and 2009 she was appointed as Queensland State coach for Acrobatic Gymnastics to take over 100 Queensland Representatives to Canberra for National Titles.
Jilly Que Hee
Jilly Que Hee studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and obtained a Diploma of Music (opera/vocal performance). After leaving the Conservatorium she performed with Opera Queensland Chorus as well as starting her teaching career and has taught singing, piano and Violin. Over the next 19 years Jilly has taught many students and styles ranging from Pop & Musical Theatre to Opera. Jilly’s passion for teaching is evident and loves seeing the journey that students go through from early childhood to career performers.
